My artwork is strongly informed by my understanding of historical and contemporary socio-political issues, the human condition and environmental concerns, and I utilize a variety of mediums to explore these complex and inter-related topics. Untitled (2006) depicts the dominance and silencing effects (self-imposed or otherwise) of patriarchy and how these systems are sometimes insidiously perpetuated and reinforced under the guise of care and protection for the women they oppress – as indicated here by the bubble-wrap “veil.”
