Redefining the female body in time and space.

Danielle LaBrie

Edmonton-based artist Danielle LaBrie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta and a Master of Arts in Integrated Studies from Athabasca University. Her main interest focuses on how women are considered in society, in particular, as visual artists. As a result, she felt motivated to spearhead the establishment of the Women’s Art Museum Society of Canada (WAM), an entity that promotes greater visibility for women artists and that aims to safeguard Canadian women’s artistic heritage. Her artistic exploration revolves primarily around the female body and its perception by a woman artist.
